The https://crossironcasinoresort.ca/ shopping centre officially opened its doors to customers on March 17, 2011.

Retail Offerings

CrossIron features more than 220 stores across a diverse mix of product categories:

  • Fashion
  • Home decor and furniture
  • Electronics
  • Health, wellness, and beauty
  • Dining options (fast food to full-service restaurants)
  • Services (personal care, travel agencies, etc.)

The centre also has a large entertainment section with an indoor play structure called the ‘Playzone,’ a movie theatre featuring IMAX capabilities, as well as several arcade areas. CrossIron’s diverse mix of retailers ensures that visitors can satisfy various shopping needs under one roof.

Types and Variations

CrossIron falls into the category of outlet malls. An outlet mall is designed to cater to customers seeking discounted prices on overstocked or discontinued products directly from manufacturers. This strategy benefits both consumers (who benefit from lower costs) and retailers (who get rid of inventory more quickly).

Unlike traditional shopping centres, which may host anchor stores (large department stores that draw in visitors), CrossIron serves as a destination due to its vast number of tenants offering discounted items.

Demographics

CrossIron’s location within the Calgary metropolitan area places it at a significant advantage. With Calgary serving as one of Canada’s major economic hubs, having easy access to amenities and employment opportunities makes this shopping centre an attractive choice for local consumers. Its proximity to residential areas further facilitates customer visitation.

Additionally, CrossIron Mills serves tourists due to its location near Calgary International Airport (YYC). It provides a convenient stopover or destination point while traveling through the area.
